Last week saw the Year 12 Hospitality students completing their practical assessments for either Certificate II or Certificate III in Hospitality.  On Monday they conducted wine tastings for the Stanthorpe Rotary Club prior to their dinner at the QCWT. Rotarians commented on their product knowledge, enthusiasm, and service skills which are all part of the required skills for many of their units of competency. On Wednesday they served over 100 people at the Year 11 Industry dinner held at the Stanthorpe Civic Centre. They served pre dinner non-alcoholic beverages, followed by a three course dinner and tea and coffee. Earlier in the day they set up the civic centre, including working out a table layout, allocating seating plus a full setting for cutlery and glassware. They worked well as a team and ensured that all guests were look after, especially any people with dietary requirements. With one main assessment left, they are currently working on training the Year 11 Hospitality students on how to operate the weekly coffee cart enterprise. This may seem like lots of work for the end of Year 12, but the rewards are industry ready students completing nationally recognized certificates.
