Sorry Day Activities

27/05/2016
Sorry day

In recognition of Sorry Day, Year 8 reading students completed some Indigenous activities. Students are working on an environmental unit this term and were able to learn about and discuss Indigenous perspectives on nature, connection with land and preservation of our natural environment.

Students read about how trees were created in a Dreamtime Story. They then constructed their own Creation Tree mural, using traditional dot painting. This activity provided students with the opportunity to visualise how each individual has a unique cultural background that enriches our community.

To finish the lesson, students created their own biodegradable bird feeder after discussing the interconnection between our flora and fauna, how we depend on each other for survival and how we can help our environment.
