Creative Generation 2017

24/07/2017

1800 students from state schools across Queensland performed in this year’s Creative Generation in Brisbane on the weekend of 14th & 15th July with 4 of those being from Stanthorpe State High School. Michelle Mueller and Thomas Evans were on Cello, Hubert Creevy on Viola and Sidney Hollingsworth on violin. They formed part of the string group playing “Storm” during the performance.

42 students from Stanthorpe State High School headed to Brisbane to watch their fellow students perform in “C-Gen”. The main focus of the first part of the program was the 2018 Commonwealth Games which featured historical anecdotes in music and dance and aerialists entering holding the baton which was spectacular. The focus phrase for this part of the performance was “Dare to Dream”.

The quality of the performances both in music and dance was outstanding and have given many students the motivation to audition and try to be a part of this event next year. Much thanks needs to go to Judi Kelly who gave up much of her time to be a teacher supervisor from Wednesday until the final performance on Saturday night.

Students who attended were asked their opinion of the performance and they gave a unanimous one-word answer “WOW!”
